A2 is a 5% Chromium steel which provides high hardness after heat treatment with good dimensional stability. It is heat treatable and will offer a hardness in the range 57-62 HRC.The lower chromium content in A2 tool steel means that it does not provide the same wear and abrasion resistance shown by D2 and D3 ,However,it is more easily machined and will hold a good edge.Compare 20 Grades of Knife Steel - ThoughtCoJul 30,2019·A ubiquitous high-end stainless steel that became popular in the 1990s,ATS-34 is a high carbon and chromium stainless steel that contains molybdenum to increase hardness. This grade of stainless holds a good edge but can be difficult to sharpen because of its high hardness.

A2 Tool Steel is a versatile,air-hardening tool steel that is characterized by good toughness and excellent dimensional stability in heat treatment.A2 is intermediate in wear resistance between O1 oil-hardening tool steel and D2 high-carbon,high-chromium tool steel.A2 provides an effective combination of strength and toughness, tool performance, price, and a wide variety of product forms.Grade A2 Tool Steel McMaster-CarrA2 tool steel is more wear resistant than O1 and it keeps a sharper cutting edge. This air-hardening material is widely used for punches, broaches, and dies.Precision-ground bars have less stock to remove on the top, bottom, and sides for achieving a finished piece faster.Certificates with a traceable lot number are available for these products.
·Because this all depends on the cutting application. In light profiling with high speed machining techniques the surface footage can go through the roof,so to speak.A2 is pretty nice to work with though as far as tool steels go.Assuming the annealed condition, run it similar to 4140 and things should come out fine.High Speed Steel Tool Steel O6 O6 Technical DataRelative Properties Physical Properties.Density 0.278 lb/in 3 (7695 kg/m 3) Specific Gravity 7.70 Modulus of Elasticity 30 x 10 6 psi (207 GPa) Machinability 125% of a 1% carbon steel Heat Treating Instructions Hardening.Preheating Heat at a rate not exceeding 400°F per hour (222°C per hour) to 1200-1250°F (649-677°C) and equalize.Austenitizing (High Heat) Heat slowly from the
High tensile steel bolts and fixings are typically available in grades 8.8 to 12.9.High tensile steel bolts.Grade 8.8 high tensile steel is often referred to as the structural grade for bolts. It is the most common form of high tensile material and is usually stocked in plain finish or zinc.It can be plated in many other coatings. For high High tensile bolts 8.8 v A2-70 stainless LandyZone Jun 24,2004·Where can I use A2-70 Stainless Steel bolts ? Jun 24,2020·A1 stainless steel lacks the harsh environmental resistance of other high-performance marine grades of stainless steel.A1 Stainless Steel is an equivalent to SAE 303 or EN 1.4305 stainless steel.A2.A2 stainless steel is the most widely used grade of stainless steelTool Steel The Four Types of Steel Metal Supermarkets·This type of tool steel does retain its hardness at increased temperature (425 °C / 797 °F max). The most typical applications for this type of tool steel is in forging dies,die-casting die blocks, and drawing dies.Shock-resisting class This class has high shock resistance and good hardenability. It is designed to resist shock at both low and high temperatures.
·Water-hardening class Named from its essential property of having to be water quenched. This grade of tool steel is essentially plain high carbon steel. It is commonly used because of its low cost.Cold-work classes Is a group of three tool steels oil-hardening,air-hardening,and high carbon-chromium.The steels in the group have high hardenability and wear resistance, with average Understanding Fastener Grades and Classes - Fastener MartMetric Class 12.9 The highest metric class for strength,it exceeds Grade 8.Because there are so many different grades and fasteners all look about the same, medium carbon and alloy steel strength grades are marked for identification.
The bolt type and metric class is usually marked on top of the bolt head, for instance A2-70. The class depicts the tensile strength of the bolt divided by 10.For example,a bolt marked A2-70 is a 304 stainless steel bolt with a 700 N/mm2 tensile strength.
